2009-01-06FYI - this device only works with computers running Windows software. If you run Linux - well, move along...nothing to see here...
Note: I own and use other D-Link hardware. This was disappointing because it is not made clear that Windows is a requirement.
2009-01-04This thing crashed my computer three times (blue screen of death), not even worth returning or trying to get my money back. In the trash!
2008-12-31I bought this with lots of hope. It claims to do lots of things. But fails doing most. Software is very buggy. Call forwarding from Skype to PSTN does not work. Also the other way around never works. Only thing works on this is it can be used as a USB Skype adaptor for a regular phone. You do not need this to do that. Contacted customer support, they did not even responded. It's just a brick for me right now.
2008-12-27Yes the product just worked fine with the supplied software at the first time, it looks only one problem it does not live will with magicjack. recomended for skype users.
2008-12-23Having spent 25 years as a Technology Manager and Data Systems Integrator, I've seen many diffrent waves of "the next best thing".
As CIO, I've intergrated VoIP technology into a company with 600 employees at 16 branch offices. I've seen the technology work in the business field and was always hoping that someday it would trickle down to the home user.
The early days of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) was tedious and unstable at best. Now, the home user has many choices of hardware that is highly intergrated and extremly easy to set up. No complicated manuals. It is really as easy as plug and play.
I've set this unit up, along with a Vtech DECT 6.0 4 handset cordless phones system at home using Skype. For under $100 per YEAR I have what would usualy cost $100 per month. Every feature, every perk that you could want and then some. If you have a Windows XP PC, a broadband connection to the internet and about 30 minutes of free time, you can do this!
I give it a five star right down the line~
