2005-09-17I bought 4 50-pack HP DVD+R 8x media spindles and used them to back up my computer data. Only 1 out of 5 disks worked with minor glitches. All 4 others failed miserably. Data corruption is the major problem with this product.
2005-01-17one might think, as I did, that using HP media in an HP computer would be a good idea? aparently, this is hardly the case at all. HP has turned out to be the absolutely worse DVD+R media I have purchased yet. I have a stack of badly burned disks. HP's only saving grace is that supposedly you can mail them back to the company for a replacement (we'll see if they actualy get replaced). I have a LiteOn SOHW which came bundled with my presario, and it did not like these disks at all. Unfortunately for me, I found out too late that HP uses CMC media, which only has a 0-50% success rate! (to learn more about that visit http://digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm). That is unacceptible! Sure, I've burned 2 good disks! But I've also burned 6 coasters! Note to self and readers, avoid media Made in Taiwan (which is most of the stuff found in the big box stores like Best Buy & Office Max)!!
2004-10-22In my experience this HP 4x DVD+R media gives very poor performence. Results with the HP media: about 1 in 3 copies have unreadable spots. My "cheap" 50 pack spindle has become quite expensive concidering my wasted time and wasted media. The problem isnt with the DVD burner, because other brands have offered me nearly flawless service.

2004-07-12I had been buying Memorex DVD+R media, but thought I'd try the HP because the 50 pack was priced 25% less than the Memorex brand, and HP is not exactly a no-name brand. I found that the HP media works ok on my PC's (HP) dvd burner ok, but I really wanted to use these on my dvd video recorder. I tried to record 4 movies off-the-air. 2 of them worked ok, the other 2 errored and resulted in a 'coaster'. At that point, I figured the media was not quite good enough for that device (it's a Cyberhome CH-DVR 1500).
Based on this, and not wanting to waste any more media, I'm going back to Memorex brand for the video recorder. I think the extra few $ for that brand is money well spent and don't think I'll be buying anymore HP media.
