2009-01-04Great product! Overclocked to 2.5 Ghz on a XFX 680i SLI LT, idle tempertures for the cores is usualy around 44c (CPU Itself is 38 C), at maximum load it's at a max of 57 C. I have the stock fan, and the air flow in my computer is not good, so it's safe to say you can overclock this safely to 2.5 ghz.
2008-12-22Very fast cpu. 4 cores so its built for the future since not alot of software can handle four cores right now, I been able to push to 3.52ghz on just air which is not bad of a overclock but it runs so fast on stock you may not need to overclock it. Shipping was fast another good experience with amazon. Thank you again Amazon.
2008-12-20I've had this CPU in a comp that I built for a few weeks, and before that, I had it in a dell. First, this is a freat CPU for overclocking. (make sure you get the G0 stepping version, this will enable you to overclock way beond what you can normally do with other 65nm CPU's) So far, I have overclocked mine to 3.2Ghz and under load the hottest its gotten is about 55C. (i'm using a Scythe mini ninja cooler) So, if you want a lower priced quad core, then this one is great!
2008-12-16This proccessor is a great entry level proccessor for those who want to prepair for the future. It may be the "baby" of the Quad cores, but it is not underpowered at all. personelly, I Have managed to overclock my Q6600 to 3.0Ghz, a moderate increase from the stock 2.4Ghz. However, make sure you have proper cooling before attemting to overclock anything. My proccessor has the old B3 stepping, which makes it run just a bit hotter than the C0 stepping. Great choice for any computer that needs to be able to multitask constanly. :D
2008-12-16I love the Quad Core I just don't like the heatsink. I intially had a problem where my computer was constanly shutting off when I would play a game. I returned one to amazon due to Intel's tech support. Amazon sent me another Q6600. I installed and had the same problem. I purchased a bigger exhaust fan, after market heatsink, and another fan to help circulate the air inside my case. Everything worked fine after that and my tempertures went down drastically. Would recomend but buy an after market heatsink.
